Họ sẽ thiết lập các sắp đặt âm thanh tương tác, mà bất kỳ ai cũng có thể „chơi“ cùng một cách dễ dàng sử dụng trực giác của bản thân. Một số sắp đặt được lấy cảm hứng từ môi trường âm thanh và xã hội đặc biệt của thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Hãy cùng chúng tôi chạm vào, nhìn ra, cảm nhận và thấu hiểu những âm thanh xung quanh chúng ta!

“Tiểu hành tinh song song” là một dự án của bộ đôi Siedl và Cao, một sự kết hợp giữa nhạc điện tử và nhạc cụ mộc. Họ sẽ thiết lập các sắp đặt âm thanh tương tác, mà bất kỳ ai cũng có thể „chơi“ cùng một cách dễ dàng sử dụng trực giác của bản thân. Một số sắp đặt được lấy cảm hứng từ môi trường âm thanh và xã hội đặc biệt của thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Hãy cùng chúng tôi chạm vào, nhìn ra, cảm nhận và thấu hiểu những âm thanh xung quanh chúng ta!

Bộ đôi gồm: nghệ sĩ người Việt Cao Thanh Lan chuyên chơi piano và nhạc cụ tổng hợp và nghệ sĩ người Áo Gregor Siedl chuyên chơi kèn clarinet / saxophone, gamecalls và kèn ống. “Tiểu hành tinh song song” đã được lưu diễn rộng rãi khắp Châu Âu, Nhật Bản, Brazill, Trung Quốc, Đài Loan và Việt Nam.

Siedl/Cao là bộ đôi nghệ sĩ sáng tác – trình diễn, và là một nhóm nghệ sĩ âm thanh, hoạt động ở Vienna.  Nhóm chuyên chơi trong lĩnh vực nhạc điện tử và nhạc cụ đương đại, âm nhạc sân khấu và nghệ thuật âm thanh. Họ gồm Cao Thanh Lan (Việt Nam) và Gregor Siedl (Áo). Siedl/Cao là một trong năm nhóm nhạc ở Áo đã giành được giải thưởng New Austrian Sound of Musice 2018-2019 cho thể loại Nhạc đương đại.

Các tác phẩm của nhóm luôn tập trung vào trải nghiệm vật lý của âm thanh và mối liên kết vốn dĩ giữa yếu tố thị giác và tần số âm thanh.

Tiếng ồn giao thông ở Hà Nội, tiếng kèn, tiếng kéo tẩu thuốc lào của Việt Nam, daxophone, bơm xe, mô tơ, lò xo nén, mô đun tổng hợp, máy dập, giọng nói máy móc, marxophone, cây nhựa, cuốn băng cũ, túi trà… là những nguồn âm thanh dùng trong các tác phẩm đa dạng mà có thể được diễn trong nhà hát, sân bowling, sân khấu, phòng khách, khán phòng đại học, cửa hàng đĩa nhựa, phòng tranh..v..v….

Bộ đôi đã nhận được rất nhiều sự tài trợ từ văn phòng Thủ tướng Cộng hoà Liên bang Áo về Nghệ thuật và Văn hoá, Diễn đàn văn hoá Áo tại Tokyo, Bỉ, Bangkok, Tehran, Hà Nội và Warsaw, cũng như từ Cục văn hoá Hạ Áo, Đại sứ quán Áo, ON-Neue Musik Cologne, Bộ Văn hoá Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rhein-Energie Stiftung.

Các công trình sáng tạo của bộ đôi đã được giới thiệu tại Lễ hội quốc tế và các địa điểm nhạc hội trên toàn thế giới, có thể kể đến Operadagen Rotterdam 2018, Musiktheatertagen Vienna 2018, Krieg singen“ im Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, FIME – Festival Intern. de Musica Experimental Sao Paulo, Frischzelle Festival für Intermediale Performance Köln, Strom Festival Köln, Hanoi New Music Festival, Festival Ankunft Neue Musik Berlin, Ftarri Tokyo, Nomart Osaka, WIM Zürich, CHELA Buenos Aires, Nhà hát lớn Hà Nội, Viện Pháp tại Hà Nội.v.v… Họ cũng đã lưu diễn ở Châu Âu, Iran, Trung Quốc, Đài Loan, Hàn Quốc, Nhật Bản, Argentina, Brazill, Uruquay, Chi lê, Phần Lan, Việt Nam, Úc và cả Indonesia.

Bộ đôi Siedl/Cao cũng đã tổ chức các buổi hội thảo về sáng tác đương đại và ứng tác tại trường Monash – Melbourne, Viện Boxhill – Melbourne, Trường Đại học quốc gia Hsinchu, Đài Loam, Trường Đại học dành cho nữ Sungshin Seoul, Đại học Mahidol – Bangkok, Äänen Lumo Helsinki, Universidad de La Serena Chile, Universidad de Montevideo Uruguay, Meridian Space Beijing, và DOMDOM trung tâm nhạc thể nghiệm Hà Nội, v.v….

Về Cao Thanh Lan:

Lan sinh năm 1987 tại Hà Nội, Việt Nam. Cô hoạt động trong lĩnh vực nhạc cụ hiện đại và nhạc điện tử, nghệ thuật âm thanh và âm thanh sân khấu. Lan đang giữ học bổng của Startstipendium 2018 của văn phòng Thủ tướng Cộng hoà Liên bang Áo. Cô từng được đào tạo ngành piano cổ điển đương đại ở Köln (với Pierre-Laurent Aimard) và Brussels, nhưng hiện tại cô tập trung chủ yếu vào các sáng tác của riêng mình và các sắp đặt âm thanh, thử nghiệm các nhạc cụ tổng hợp, marxophone / đàn tam thập lục, thiết bị điện tử kỹ thuật thấp, và rất nhiều đối tượng khác nữa.

Hoạt động như một nghệ sĩ âm thanh, ứng tác và sáng tác tại Berlin, Vienna và Cologne trong rất nhiều dự án khác nhau, mà đáng kể nhất là sự cộng tác với Gregor Siedl để hình thành nên bộ đôi sáng tác- trình diễn Sield/Cao, Lan đã đi lưu diễn cũng như tổ chức hội thảo về âm nhạc đương đại và ứng tác tại Châu Âu, Nhật Bản, Brazil, Trung Quốc, Đài Loan, Hàn Quốc, Argentina, Uruguay, Chi Lê, Úc, Indonesia và Việt Nam. Sáng tác của cô đã được phát hành bởi Impakt, Flaming Pines, Off Record, Acefalo Records và Syrphe. Lan cũng từng biểu diễn tại Lễ hội âm nhạc thử nghiệm Emittermicro Berlin, Flux Festival Berlin, Brechtfestival Augsburg, hay Lễ hội âm nhạc thể nghiệm FIME tại Sao Paulo Brazil, Strom festival Cologne, Festival Frischzelle Cologne, Sonic Territories Vienna,v.v…..

Khi làm nghệ sĩ piano khách mời cho Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berin (KNM Ensemble), Lan đã có cơ hội biểu diễn tại Lễ hội Ultraschall Berlin, Musica Eletronica Nova Wroclaw, Poesiefestival Berlin.v.. và đã học hỏi được rất nhiều kinh nghiệm trình diễn solo và đồng diễn tại “Lễ hội nhạc đương đại Darmstadt dành cho nhạc mới” hay Lễ hội Ircam Paris@Manifest và các Lễ hội của học viện như Klangspuren – Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Impuls Festival – Ensemble Klangforum Vienna, v.v…..

Về Gregor Siedl

Gregor Siedl hiện đang sống và làm việc tại Vienna, Áo. Anh tham gia các lĩnh vực về nghệ thuật âm thanh, sân khấu âm nhạc thử nghiệm, và các dự án thông qua nhiều thể loại. Các sáng tác của anh có thể coi là sản phẩm phụ từ quá trình tự nhận thức bản thân. Mối quan tâm chính của anh là sự khám phá âm thanh và thị giác, những hình thái, những mối tương quan giữa chúng và cái cách mà chúng được lĩnh hội. Dự án gần đây nhất đã mang đến cho anh cơ hội nghiên cứu về các nghi lễ cổ xưa, trí tuệ nhân tạo, phát xạ tự nhiên, và thiết bị điện tử tự làm. Anh cũng là thành viên tích cực của sân khấu âm nhạc thể nghiệm tại Berlin, Vienna và Brussels.

Gregor là thành viên sáng lập của bộ đôi hợp tác dài lâu Siedl/Cao, Junk Orbit, Parallel Asteroid, ZICLA, DOKO và dự án Osmosis. Anh đã lưu diễn khắp Châu Âu, Trung Đông, Châu Á và Bắc Mỹ tại các Lễ hội và tụ điểm âm nhạc thế giới, có thể kể đến như: Lễ hội âm nhạc Ankunft Neue Berlin, HdKW Berlin, Festival Internacional de Musica Experimental Sao Paulo, Lễ hội Follow the Sound Antwerpen, Storm!, LeXGiornate Milan, Porgy&Bess Vienna, Ftarri Tokyo, EnvironmentZeroGauge Osaka, Dotolim Seoul, Estonian Academy of music, Improvised Music Co. Experience the physical nature of sound and the inherent link between visual and audio elements. „Parallel Asteroid“ is a project by Cao Thanh Lan and Gregor Siedl - a sound artist group based in Vienna Austria. They will set up several interactive installations, which enable everyone to „play“ with sounds in the most intuitive way. Some of the installations are inspired by the special sonic and social environment of Ho Chi Minh City. Together, let’s touch, see, feel and understand these sounds around us!

 “Parallel Asteroid” is a project by Siedl/Cao, a hybrid of electronic and acoustic sounds. They will set up several interactive installations, which enable everyone to „play“ with sounds in the most intuitive way. Some of the installations are inspired by the special sonic and social environment of Ho Chi Minh City. Together, let’s touch, see, feel and understand these sounds around us!

The musicians are the Vietnamese pianist and synthesizer player – Cao Thanh Lan and Gregor Siedl from Austria on clarinet/saxophone, gamecalls and tubes. Parallel Asteroid have been touring extensively in Europe, Japan, Brazil, China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Siedl/Cao is a Vienna-based composer-performer and sound artist group. They work in the field of contemporary electronic and instrumental music, music theatre and sound art. They are Cao Thanh Lan from Vietnam and Gregor Siedl from Austria. Siedl/Cao is one of 5 groups from Austria that received the award New Austrian Sound of Music 2018-2019 in the category Contemporary Music.

Their works have always been centered on the physical experience of sound and the inherent link between visual and audio elements.

Hanoi traffic noise, clarinet, Vietnamese hubble bubble smoking pipe, daxophone, air pump, servo motors, precompressed spring, modular synthesizer, crackers, text-to-speech, marxophone, plastic plants, gaffer tape, infusion bags… are their sound sources for diverse works and performances for sites such as opera house, bowling alley, theatre, living room, university auditorium, vinyl shop, gallery, etc.

For their projects and cooperations, they have received grants from – Austrian Federal Chancellery (BKA) for Art and Culture, Austrian Cultural Forums in Tokyo, Brussels, Bangkok, Tehran, Hanoi and Warsaw, Cultural Department of Lower Austria, Austrian Embassies, ON-Neue Musik Cologne, Ministry for Culture in Nordrhein-Westfalen (MFKJKS-NRW), Rhein-Energie Stiftung.

CAO THANH LAN

Lan (first name) was born 1987 in Hanoi, Vietnam. She works in the fields of contemporary instrumental and electronic music, sound art and music theatre. She is the scholarship holder of Startstipendium 2018 from the Austrian Federal Chancellery. She was trained as a classical contemporary music pianist in Köln (with Pierre-Laurent Aimard) and Brussels, but recently she has focused mostly on her own compositions and sound installations, experimenting with modular synthesizers, prepared marxophone/zither, low-tech electronics, various objects, etc.

Active as a sound artist, improviser, composer in Berlin, Vienna and Cologne in many different projects, notably the composer-performer Duo Siedl/Cao – in collaboration with Gregor Siedl, she has been touring and giving workshops for contemporary music and improvisation in Europe, Japan, Brasil, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Her works have been released on labels Impakt, Flaming Pines, Off Record, Acefalo Records and Syrphe. She has performed at experimental music festival such as Emittermicro Berlin, Flux Festival Berlin, Brechtfestival Augsburg, FIME festival for experimental music in Sao Paulo Brazil, Strom festival Cologne, Festival Frischzelle Cologne, Sonic Territories Vienna, etc.

As a guest pianist/performer of Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin (KNM Ensemble), she has performed at Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Musica Electronica Nova Wroclaw, Poesiefestival Berlin, etc. She has earned a wide range of solo and ensemble experience in contemporary music festivals namely Darmstadt Festival for new music, Festival Ircam Paris@Manifest and in festival academies such as Klangspuren – Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Impuls Festival – Ensemble Klangforum Vienna, etc.

GREGOR SIEDL

Gregor Siedl is currently based in Vienna, Austria. He is engaged in the field of sound art, experimental music theater and projects crossing genres and disciplines. His works could be seen as a by-product of an on-going process of self-recognition. His main interest is in exploration of sound and visuals, their form, their correlation and the way they are perceived. Recent projects have lead him to research ancient rituals, artificial intelligence, „natural radio“ emissions and DIY electronics. He is an active member of the experimental music scenes in Berlin, Vienna and Brussels.

He is a founding member of the long term collaboration Siedl/Cao, Junk Orbit, Parallel Asteroid, ZICLA, DOKO and  Osmosis Project. He has performed all over Europe, Middle-East, Asia and South-America at international music festivals and concert venues, such as: Festival Ankunft Neue Musik Berlin, HdKW Berlin, Festival Internacional de Musica Experimental Sao Paulo, Follow the sound Festival Antwerpen, Storm!-Festival, LeXGiornate Milan, Porgy&Bess Vienna, Ftarri Tokyo, EnvironmentZeroGauge Osaka, Dotolim Seoul, Estonian Academy of music, Improvised Music Co. Dublin and more.
