Soft-skills talk: Creative Thinking - Think as if there is no box

It is well documented that East Asian young people have really high average intelligence compared to European or American, but we are lag behind in measures of creativity, particularly over the past millennium. Part of the reason is due to our preserved culture and that we are too conformist, which is really an obstacle to the Asian effectiveness and high achievement. This is why the most well-worn phrases when it comes to our thinking process is “think outside the box”, which encourages everyone to think creatively, freely, and off the beaten path. 

However, as the globalization is happening rapidly and the level of competition in the business world is becoming more intense, is it enough to just think out of the box? Or should we think as if no box exists?
