Giới thiệu

At DAWN we want to empower women to change the way clothes are made, sold and worn. We believe the fashion industry can only be changed through a united community of committed and confident women. On October the 26th we want to open our doors and invite you to see behind the scenes at our Evolution Lab in District 9. Come by, ask questions, meet Fair Wear Foundation, learn about our challenges for sustainable and ethical manufacturing and become part of our journey.

We have also teamed up with some of Saigons artist and designers to help us create some inspiring pieces that will be exhibited and auctioned out to you on the day. The highest bid will be the lucky owner of an outstanding pair of jeans to wear or to hang on your wall - it’s up to you. The money from the auction will be shared equally between the artist and charity organisation MASD.

The event is free, we only ask for a registration fee of 50k which goes 100% to MASD. t's our first ever Open Factory Day and therefore we only have limited space available.

*** DETAILED SCHEDULE ***

On the event day you will be picked up outside the main entrance(facing Hanoi Highway) of Vincom Megamall, D2 by our shuttle busses. In our Evolution Lab in D9 we will welcome you 30-45 later to start the tour and the event.

FACTORY TOURS

We believe in transparency. Our tour will reveal every single step of the jeans making process; from measurement, making the pattern, cutting fabric, choosing thread colour, material, various sewing steps and all the way to the final product. You will get a chance to ask questions to the hand crafters, the designers Ines and Linda and anyone that is a part of the process. We also think it’s important that our workers can meet you and ask how you like your jeans, so they can make an even better product.

You will not only see our work on sustainable production, but also how we manage social environment for our staff; including a candy machine, a “make your voice heard” booth and other experiments designed by Lab Saigon(https://thelabsaigon.com/) that will be explained upon your visit.

FACTORY SALE

Did you know that a big waste from fashion industry are the products with minor mistakes that can not be sent out to the shops? These items are called B-grade which may be one shade different in colour or a small printing mistake, but other than that are perfectly fine to wear. Many brands burn or bury them, but we want to handle them in a more sustainable way. These items will be available for you to purchase at a good deal price. Some of the invited artists and designers have also designed their own patches that are available for purchase here. Make sure to bring some cash. 10% will go to MASD.

ART EXHIBITION

Another sustainable way to take care of B-grade is to pimp them. One month before this event we invited some of Saigons local artist and designers to design their own very special upgrade on a pair of B- grade jeans. With free hands they created some amazing pieces that will be exhibited as inspiration and auctioned out to the highest bid.

ART AUCTION

The artist pieces will at the event be auctioned out to the highest bid. To lay a bid, you fill in the artist name, your name, contact information and price you want to pay for the jeans. It will still be possible to lay a bid on-line one week after the exhibition. When we announce the winner of each artist piece. 50% of the money go straight to the artists pocket and 50% to the charity organisation MASD

MASD

Make A Small Difference is a private family setup, who has travelled a lot and seen many different cultures and challenging circumstances, and decided to help just a little bit. Our clear ambition is to help young kids and try to guide them in a better direction in life, and will only support and donate to projects, where we can verify the difference ourselves.

People are generally talking a lot about poor people living in difficult environments and many would like to help and others only talk. We would like to make just a small difference by doing what we are saying. We cannot save the world, but by helping just a few, we can make a small difference. The donation will go directly to the children in need - to help with school fees, to keep the children in the educational system, which will provide them with a far more chance to brake their social heritage.

DAWN STORY

Marian von Rappard and Ines Rust, the co-founders of DAWN, worked in the fashion industry for 20+ years before creating DAWN. They have worked on the brand side and the supplier side and understand the true costs of production.

Unlike other brands, which spread their supply chains across a number of countries, we focus ours in one place, which we call home.

At Dawn, we believe the best way to empower makers is to give them a safe working environment, a decent wage and the opportunity to grow. We know each employee by name. Only through direct ownership and management of our supply chain are we able to achieve this.

We pursue our vision through a single-minded strategy of sourcing our materials sustainably, treating and paying our workers fairly, producing only what is needed to reduce waste, and building complete transparency throughout our supply chain.

In this way we empower our customers to make informed decisions about their fashion choices.
