With some 30 main events featuring Berlin, Paris heroes of the Techno scene from Berlin and Paris. Last year Heart Beat sprouted HRBR-Harbour, another underground music promoter making the Saigon nightlife more colourful and managed to release nearly 4 EP’s on its synonymous label. Something Heart Beat plans for 2018 and hopefully achive more of the collective dreams of the trio behind this boutique yet mature promoter.

To celebrate this anniversary Heart Beat has produced and published a photo book one might label the chronicles of an era of underground music in Saigon, featuring many of their events, guest DJ’s, yet also many of the venues that are no longer open. The location forced by venue drought will be at an outdoor pitstop, also dubbed as  the Desert or the Jungle in D.2, located at the foot of  Phu My bridge in District 2 in direction of District 7.

► FRESHEST NEWS: Ben Klock has overseen a compilation of new music for his 20th release on his Klockworks label, which launched in 2006. Also, Heiko Laux’ “Dark Fader” will appear on this compilation.

►HEIKO LAUX [aka hlx, aka Offshore Funk, aka Apathism] LABELOWNER OF premier techno label Kanzleramt // RECORDING ARTIST ON  Josh Wink’s Ovum and Rejected, Suol, Tronic, Uturn many more. As the youngest of 5 children, Heiko Laux was always the rebel in the family challenging norms even in his youth. To this day his stimulating approach to electronic music has showcased his ability to utter between genres with various aliases, projects and sounds. Founded in 1994 by Heiko Laux, Kanzleramt was Germany’s premier techno label releasing some of the freshest sounds of that time. 20 years later the label is still continuously testing boundaries in contemporary techno, breaching the gaps between techno, trance and minimal.

Since the release of Heiko’s last album on Kanzleramt in 2006 he has explored di erent sonic landscapes ranging from classic techno sounds to deep techno by releasing on various labels. His work on Truesoul, Figure and Soma all feature collaborations with Amsterdam-based producer Steve Rachmad. Other labels include Rejected, Suol, Tronic and Uturn, which dips into the realm of hypnotic techno. In the past year Heiko has put out two EPs on Josh Wink’s label, Ovum, each one worked as collaboration. The first release with Diego Hostettler was true to his own style as well as to Ovum as the tracks will excite any dance oor. However most recently his EP with Alexander Lukat on Ovum has been the number one seller for Ovum on Beatport since its release in October 2013.

For Heiko Laux inspiration can spring up from any source. Constantly living in the moment, capturing emotions and reactions from the world around him as his productions illustrate the beauty of exotic lands and galactic landscapes. Once in the moment there is no going back, only moving forward and only creation.

In January 2014 the twentieth anniversary of Kanzleramt was celebrated at Berlin’s renowned Berghain and since then Heiko has been requested all around the world, from Los Angles to Sweden to Tokyo, to represent and showcase his labels works.

The release of Fernweh in 2014 has marked a great accomplishment for Heiko Laux as it is his fifth solo album for Kanzleramt. From starting out in 1994 in the heat of the uprising techno, Heiko has experienced many movements in the music- sphere however he will always play an important role and symbolize of the globally celebrated golden age of techno. With no interest in remaking albums or dwelling on the past, Heiko is constantly moving forward, finding new inspiration. Motivated by his undoubted passion, he will continue to produce music to fill the void in contemporary techno.

►CHRIS WOLTER hailing from Hanse city Rostock, with a very active scene, as we all have experienced these past years. At least 5 guests from the Rostock area come over to Saigon. Chris is already more than 7 years part of the Vietnamese culture and of course founding father (Papa) of Heart Beat. Releasing his signature sound on Heart Beat’s imprint with his latest techno release of Chanhy by night and  “Scorpion” following “Bubi”. Made his debut in 2004 as DJ and in 2008 his first set in Vietnam during the Hanoi Soundstuff Festival. Now also performing and releasing under his Alias Phuc Long on HRBR a new imprint with BAX as head honcho.

►OUCH! haling from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, Dj Ouch! started deejaying in the late 90s. He is one of the founding members of the drum and bass crew Insane Drumsounds. He spent the year 2000 in Madrid and started to play deep house. He started producing his own beats in 2003. He also has a passion for funk, disco and afrobeat. He is now based in Ho Chi Minh City and is  one of the favourite support acts at recent Heart Beat & HRBR events. ►VISUALS by EROL - no light show will be needed, standing all night besides the DJ’s this one man live show called Erol produces the visuals that will entangle with the sonic typhoon the artist create and release. It is the Lightning going with the storm, the techno Viking god  in person and hard NOT to get hypnotized by his creations. 

►Intro Venue: The original location also dubbed ‘the Jungle’ or  was first introduced as rave location by our friends of Sonic Uprising about 5 years ago. An epic night for many reasons.  Due to rapid urbanisation the location has moved to the other side of the road and is now also the pOp-servatory location since 11-11. We like to follow in their footsteps in the dry season and celebrate our 5 years in the outdoors 24 hours non stop from 9PM to 9AM!!

FROM DISTRICT 7 & 1 ---> Go over the Phu My Bridge towards D2. Once you have crossed the (big) bridge, continue until you cross a smaller bridge, then make a U-turn on the broken dirt road to get to the other side of the road. Then go back towards the big bridge using the far right motorbike lane, and take the exit to go under the bridge. The location is right at the beginning of the bridge.

FROM DISTRICT 2 ---> Go towards the Phu My Bridge over Vo Chi Cong road, but do not go over it. The venue will be on your right hand at the foot of the bridge. It is possible to make a U turn under the bridge to go back to D.2!

IN CASE OF RAIN: the venue is covered and dancing in the rain ain't that bad either, so no worries!

►► GIỚI THIỆU: Cái 05 năm trước đã bắt đầu từ tầng 1 Red Bar ở Ngô Đức Kế nay đã thành hình là một promoter ưu hạng nhạc Techno tại Saigon mỗi tháng một lần thỏa lòng người yêu nhạc underground. Với 30 sự kiện âm nhạc lận lưng qua sự góp mặt của những người hùng Techno đến từ Berlin, Paris. Năm ngoái, Heart Beat tiếp tục cho ra đời HRBR – Harbour, một đơn vị promoter âm nhạc ngầm khác biến đời sống về đêm của Sài Gòn thêm màu thêm sắc, đặc biệt là nỗ lực phát hành gần 4 EP. Heart Beat đang lên kế hoạch cho năm 2018 và hy vọng sẽ thành tựu hơn nữa những giấc mơ âm nhạc của bộ ba đứng sau promoter nhỏ mà có võ này.

Để kỷ niệm dịp này, Heart Beat đã sản xuất và phát hành một tập photobook, một biên niên sử về giai đoạn đã qua của nhạc underground Sài Gòn, quy tụ nhiều sự kiện, DJ khách mời, và nhiều địa điểm nay đã không còn mở cửa, nhưng không chìm vào quên lãng.

Là con út trong gia đình năm anh chị em, Heiko Laux luôn là kẻ nổi loạn thách thức những quy chuẩn ngay từ tấm bé. Ngày nay, cách tiếp cận luôn mới mẻ với nhạc điện tử của anh đã cho thấy khả năng thể hiện nhiều dòng nhạc khác nhau dưới nhiều nghệ danh, dự án lẫn âm thanh đặc trưng. Kanzleramt, thành lập vào năm 1994, là một điểm dừng chân ưu tú của Techno Đức với những âm thanh tươi mới nhất vào thời bấy giờ. 20 năm sau, hãng đĩa vẫn liên tục kiểm chứng những giới hạn của techno đương thời, phá vỡ những khoảng cách giữa techno, trance và minimal.

Các hãng đĩa khác bao gồm Rejected, Suol, Tronic và Uturn, địa hạt của thứ techno thôi miên mê hoặc. Năm vừa qua, Heiko đã phát hành 2 EP ở Ovum của Josh Wink, là hai album hợp tác. Xuất phẩm đầu tiên với Diego Hostettler đi đúng với phong cách của anh cũng như Ovum, các track nhạc sẽ làm sống động mọi sàn nhảy. Thường xuyên sống trong hiện tại, nắm bắt những cảm xúc và phản ứng đến từ thế giới xung quanh như các production anh thực hiện luôn minh họa vẻ đẹp của những vùng đất lạ và những quang cảnh của dãy ngân hà. Một khi đã thuộc về khoảnh khắc ấy thì chẳng còn gì để mất, mà chỉ tiếp tục tiếp về sáng tạo như con đường duy nhất.
Tháng 1.2014, kỷ niệm 20 năm Kanzleramt được tổ chức ngay tại Berghain và từ đó đến nay Heiko đã được mời diễn khắp trên thế giới, từ Los Angeles đến Thụy Điển sang Tokyo, đại điện và trình diễn tác phẩm phát hành ở hãng đĩa anh làm chủ.
Fernweh ra đời năm 2014 đánh dấu một thành tựu to lớn của Heiko Laux, vì đây là album solo thứ 5 của anh với Kanzleramt. Từ khởi điểm năm 1994 ở giữa phong trào techno đang phất, Heiko đã trải qua nhiều trào lưu âm nhạc khác nhau tuy nhiên vẫn luôn đóng một vai trò quan trọng và biểu trưng cho thời đại hoàng kim của techno được cả thế giới ca tụng. Thôi thúc bởi đam mê kiên định, anh sẽ tiếp tục sáng tạo ra âm nhạc để lấp đầy khoảng trống của techno đương đại.

►CHRIS WOLTER: [Đức] đến từ Rostock, thành phố vùng Hanse, nơi có một bối cảnh âm nhạc luôn chuyển động, như những gì anh đã cho thấy suốt 2 năm qua. Ít nhất đã có 5 vị khách đến Việt Nam từ Rostock xa xôi. Chris, anh đã sống 7 năm trong văn hóa Việt Nam và dĩ nhiên không ai khác chính là người sáng lập (bố chưa già) của Heart Beat. Ta sẽ thưởng thức âm thanh đặc trưng nhất, mang đậm dấu ấn của anh với quả bom techno Scorpion, Bubi. Trở thành DJ cách đây đúng 10 năm, và 2008 với màn ra mắt Việt Nam tại festival điện tử nổi tiếng Hanoi Soundstuff.

Địa điểm tự phát được gọi là “The Jungle” được giới thiệu lần đầu bởi 1 event rave của Sonic Uprising khoảng 5 năm về trước. Đêm đó là một đêm tuyệt vời vì rất nhiều lý do. Thời gian sau đó, Eclectic Aesthetic sử dụng một vài lần cho các sự kiện của họ đến lúc bị bỏ hoang bởi sự đô thị hóa của Sài Gòn. Từ ngày 11.11 rồi, the Observatory bắt đầu quay lại và dùng địa điểm này cho các sự kiện pop-up của họ. Và bây giờ đến chúng tôi, chúng tôi sẽ dùng nơi đây để kỉ niệm 5 năm thành lập Heart Beat.

TỪ QUẬN 7 VÀ QUẬN 1 —> Đi qua cầu Phú Mỹ hướng quận 2. Khi mà bạn vừa qua khỏi cái cầu lớn, tiếp tục đi thằng đển khi bạn gặp một cái cầu khác nhỏ hơn, sau đó quay đầu xe lại tại khu đất đỏ trống và qua phía bên kia đối diện đường. Sau đó quay lại theo hướng cầu lớn bằng việc sử dụng làn đường bên phải của xe gắn máy, sau đó, ra khỏi đường đi vào dưới chân cần. Địa điểm chính xác nằm ngay bên phải ngay cầu. Đừng lo, bạn sẽ nghe tiếng nhạc từ đó.
TỪ QUẬN 2 —> Đi về hướng cầu Phú Mỹ nhưng đừng qua cầu. Địa điểm nằm ngay bên phải trước khi tới cầu.
